Information is new oil: how to keep audience loyal and not get lost in the flow of fake information

The events of 2022 created a new challenge for modern media – people got access to a vast information flow, and most of them simply could not cope with it. Some of them read everything and anything and faced serious mental disorders literally in a matter of days. Others, on the contrary, "went underground" – muted all data resources, deactivated their social networks accounts, limited their contacts. Some people tried to find the truth and understand what is happening in the world by analyzing various sources and points of view, but they faced another problem – fake news, the amount of which has drastically increased. This proves that editing is still needed for the audience’s peace of mind. The uncontrolled information flow can cause damage to the reader. And even this seemingly "objective" information flow in the form of a “proven” videos is still controlled by someone.
The mass media trend of the recent years has implied a transition to social networks featuring the format of short messages that do not reveal the source of the matter, do not show different points of view. In order to grow audiences, some editorial offices recoursed to virtual technologies within creating content – clickbait headlines, unverified information, unreliable sources and even plainly mistranslation of phrases from the original source. On the one hand, it immediately attracts a lot of readers to the publication. However, on the other hand, it has a delayed negative effect. Over time, this can lead to irreversible consequences for both readers and the media. At first glance, the solution is simple – censorship. But did the media community wanted this for the last half a century? There must be some other solution that we will try to find during the discussion at one of the sections of KazanSummit 2022.
    Topics:
    •    How to maintain a balance between the fair game and the strive for readers?
    •    Modern media scene and Halal standards: utopia or reality? Is it possible to combine these two?
    •    How to develop a habit of conscious consumption of information individually and within the society?
    •    Halal in the media scene. How to increase the number of views without resorting to "hype" technologies?
    •    Where can the reader get copious and precise information?
    •    How to revert the readers from social networks to reading the media? Will the reverse process of the transition from social networks to media happen?
    •    Messengers and mass media: how can modern media be portrayed correctly in messengers?
    •    Will the image of social networks and telegram channels change as "reliable sources of information"? Who controls this information flow?
    •    Will the print media get the image of a "media without fakes" (fake-free zone)? Will there be a revival of the press media?
    •    How to maintain your popularity? How to get the reader back from social networks?
    •    The importance of fact-checking for modern media and its impact on reputation.
    •    New virtuality: what texts will be read this year? Which texts will become viral in the new reality?
    •    How to cooperate with speakers in order not to receive refusals in comments?
    •    Is it possible to rebuild a reputation after a negative event in the media space? Are disputes (lawsuits) between media and speakers effective?
    •    Total control: how not to breach the law while publishing in official social media networks? Is it essential to share the publication format on the maintenance of social networks?
    •    Tolerance and insult: is the media material that is always correct from the point of view of the law safe for society?
    •    Are hype and Halal compatible in the modern media landscape, and how to stay within the norms of ethics?

Panel discussion: "Women's entrepreneurship. Growth drivers in new realities"

The total entrepreneurial activity, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM, is estimated as the proportion of women of working age (18-64 years) who are either in the process of creating their own business, or running a business that is more than three, but less than 42 months old. This indicator is the highest in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America: for example, in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Cameroon, Ecuador and Belize, it is more than 25% for both men and women. These regions also demonstrate high gender parity: women's entrepreneurial activity accounts for about 80% of the male indicator. In the most developed countries, such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Israel and some countries of the Middle East, for example, Qatar, this ratio is on average about 60%. In Russia, the growth in the number of businesswomen over the past year was 53%, and the gender gap in the country is small — about 20%. The problems of women's entrepreneurship are professional business education, obtaining support and financing, the opportunity to combine family and business.

How to promote blogs and brands in the new realities?

The role of bloggers in the turbulent transforming media space: what is being a responsible blogger?
    - mobile (issues of restructuring and variability of other sites, instead of giving up, use opportunities);
    - responsible / conscious (anti-hype, Halal only as quality and transparency (transparency of information instead of fakes) and not as information about Islam);
    - creative (charity and aid projects, rubrics, motivation and inspiration, new approaches contrary to patterns, personal example and success stories, supporting your own – this is Halal, not posts with hadith).
Blogger as an opinion leader and external support.
In modern conditions, in order to stay active, authors and business owners need to adopt new rules of the game. In a transforming world, bloggers have a great social responsibility. The old approach is no longer working, new questions arise: how to adapt and work with media platforms, how to communicate with the audience, how and what to talk about, and who is a responsible blogger?
The United Nations has singled out infodemia as an enemy akin to a pandemic that has turned our lives upside down. The problem of media literacy is huge all over the world, content creators face a serious task: to approach fact-checking responsibly, to be critical of information in the media space.
Bloggers have a significant influence on the opinion of the masses, today they are opinion leaders for a multi–million audiences of social networks. At the moment of transformation, it is important to direct this potential towards creation. Creativity helps to develop awareness, and in turn, makes it possible to act rationally, not to succumb to instinctive reactions. By inspiring and encouraging the audience to creative, charitable acts, bloggers become a guide for subscribers to a conscious lifestyle.
    Basic issues:
    •    How to maintain your popularity and where to develop as a blogger today?
    •    What skills do you need to master the effective promotion in new media?
    •    Healthy relationships with the media
    •    The importance of fact-checking for a blogger, the spread of misinformation.
    •    How shall brands act in new social networks?
    •    What channels do bloggers have to communicate with foreign audiences?
    •    How to build communication with the audience and maintain a reputation after the negative experience in the media space?
    •    Using your influence in the media space in order to foster creativity in the audience
    •    Blog, as a means of motivation and inspiration for further development in a changing world
